Clean Up Your Facebook Posts with This Simple Trick

Posted on August 8, 2013

Let’s face it, long links are messy.

And they happen to be particularly ugly within the context of a Facebook feed. Who wants to have to wade through a chunk of random numbers and letters to get to the good stuff?

Luckily, there’s a very simple way to clean up unnecessary linkage on your Facebook posts. Considering how easy this little trick is, it’s surprising not everyone’s doing it!

1) Copy your chosen link and paste it into your status box

Step 1
Nothing new about this folks. Just grab your link and throw it in as per usual. The only difference is don’t hit Post – not yet anyway.

2) Wait for the thumbnail excerpt to generate

Step 2
This may take a few moments, but a little thumbnail image and short description should appear momentarily. Extra credit: Use the transparent arrows on the image thumbnail to pick the picture you want displayed on your post.

3) Delete the link

Step 3
That’s right, get rid of it! Because Facebook has saved the link information, even when you delete the actual URL, the thumbnail excerpt will remain. You now have a clean link-free space to enter a comment or witty one liner before posting.
